Steven Leonard Knox Foundation Mission
The Steven Leonard Knox Foundation is an organization created to assist widows and their families during the uncertain journey that follows the loss of a spouse. We provide financial assistance to widows by selecting deserving families to receive the Steven Leonard Knox Grant. We hope to share the compassion and love for life and family that was Steven’s legacy by working hard to ensure the love he gave to us lives on throughout the world and continues to touch the lives of others in need of a little extra care, as he so often did in his short time here with us. In grief, we are all united.
SLK Foundation
The Steven Leonard Knox Foundation was formed to help widowed parents during their time of uncertainty. Any time a family member is lost, it’s not easy to cope. However, when a spouse passes (especially a needed income earner), it can magnify those difficulties. In addition to grieving, we can be left with urgent questions like ‘How does the family keep going and pay the bills and keep the family fed and well?’ If there isn’t anyone around who knows what to do next and give a sense of direction, what does one do? It’s hard enough dealing with the emotional stress of losing a loved one. That’s why this Foundation was founded. We assist with funds and the ‘what to do next?’ to help ease this difficult transition. All profits from donations and our apparel and merchandise sales will go to supporting this cause. This foundation is supported by a caring board of directors who will perform a grass roots outreach-marketing program to inform the public of our intention that no widow should stand alone.
Our goal is to have widowed parents or their loved ones contact us about their current situations via our website, email or through the mail, and share with us how their loss occurred and what they are going through as a result. Our caring board will review the submissions and decide on the families we feel have the greatest need (although we understand that every family will have similar feelings and definite needs, we can only assist as many as our resources allow). The selected families will then receive a grant from the Steven Leonard Knox Foundation to assist with the financial burden and transition to a single parent household. The number of families we assist and the grant allowance will be determined by the amount of donations raised. As the foundation raises more donations, grants awarded will become larger and/or more frequent. Every dollar is a chance for hope to someone whose hope is being tested. Miracles happen. People make them real. Faith tells us that when hope seems at its weakest, that is truly when it is most strong.
The future we perceive can change in an instant. Knowing where to turn or what to do next is often not something we plan in advance. The mission of the Steven Leonard Knox Foundation is to let widows know that they are not alone. We care. We understand. We’re here for you.
