Nybe's story

"After my husband died in October 2004, I had to move back home across the country with my 4 year old daughter. Since me and his family were not close, they kept all of our belongings and car. I left alone and had no money. Thanks to my mom in California, when i arrived, she was supportive and did not rush me to get a job. It took a long time for his social security to come through, and all the paperwork, debt and responsibilities came rushing in. I had no idea how to handle any of these things, but my mom, being a widow herself, assisted when she could. I had to file for bankruptcy and accepted that my credit I had worked so hard on, was not going to be the same. I felt alone and isolated. I would say, it took almost a year until everything slowed down, made sense and evened out for me and my daughter. "
